Celtic and Other Music
The Celtic music (Scottish, Irish, etc.) we're playing these days includes jigs, reels, hornpipes, aires, and other tune types. Our repertoire also includes some lovely folk ballads, traditional and contemporary Christian instrumentals, a few classical standards, and even movie themes that get inside our heads. We're constantly falling in love with different tunes, and arranging and mixing them up as new ideas strike us. We're often engaged to do predominately or entirely instrumental sets, and have a wide palette of tunes and instrumentation to draw from to create the specific mood you're looking for. We can also throw in vocals to broaden the experience. See the sample tune list below.
Popular Music
For weddings and other occasions, we’ve sung songs by a multitude of mainstream and contemporary Christian artists. We can accompany vocals with backup tracks, our own instruments, or contract friends we perform with to meet many accompaniment needs. We sat down trying to think of various songs we've performed from popular artists, and came up with the following lists. We can also do tunes from favorite musicals, etc. Once, a bride's mom insisted that we sing Sabbath Prayer from Fiddler on the Roof! Sometimes we're engaged to lead congregational hymns as part of a wedding ceremony or church service, and we've worked up many hymns we love as a duet. If you have a special song you’d like for your upcoming event, we can learn just about anything and create a beautiful arrangement just for you. (Irma) I love to "color outside the lines" with my mountain dulcimer instrumentals and vocals, veering widely beyond traditional repertoire. Songs include John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Andy Williams, Hollywood Musicals, Opera, and more.
Cowboy Music (no kidding)
We've had a lot of repertoire at our finger tips from a cowboy band we had for years that we'll also perform as a duet or trio. This includes both a lot of pure instrumentals and vocals. Music includes good old cowboy songs from the silver screen, country, country gospel, and American fiddle tunes. Note a fiddle tune is a particular kind of melody, and it doesn't necessarily have to be played on a fiddle. Sometimes, folks want us to throw in some of these numbers just to spice things up.
Christmas Music
Irma grew up in Germany where Christmas was a very special time of year. I (Scott) also have fond memories of family Christmases. The Christmas season brings with it volumes of music that have been written over the centuries. Our recorded collection of Christmas music exceeds all the other media we've accumulated over the years! Every year, there's more tunes we just have to put to voice, whistle, or string. Instruments like harp and dulcimer create a magical Christmas, and some of our favorite tunes come out during the season. When we give Christmas concerts, we'll mix in the well known with the less familiar, and add in some of our regular Celtic and old-time repertoire to create a wonderful listening experience.
